We want to go directly from Sicily to Rome and would appreciate any advice. We can take a ferry overnight from Palermo to Civitavecchia, or a train from Catania to Rome. (These two departure points are the cheapest to drop off our rental car).

I recently booked a B&B with hostelbookers.com, and they took a deposit from me via my credit card. When I got to the B&B (at the time I'd arranged), there was no-one in, and I couldn't get an answer from the 'phone number I'd been given.
