Heading to Rome & Venice next week (for the first time). Saw a reference somewhere stating there are standard meals associated with each day of the wekk, i.e. Thursday is Gnochhi day. Can anyone expand on the selection?

Does anyone know of a small, pocket-sized pamphlet (preferably laminated) that we could carry around while in Italy. We do not know ANY Italian (well maybe a couple phrases), and don't want the added weight, bulk of a paperback book in my tote bag.
