I am hoping somebody can recommend a 'must-see' between Valencia and Barcelona. We have rented a car to make the 350 KM drive and will have an entire day to do it. We want to stop in one or two places along the way.

Two bomb alerts I know of in the last two days, one at Doncaster station and the other at Roslin Chapel (I happened to find out about them since my girlfriend was involved in an event that was affected by both in succession).

We survived it with no great difficulty but a little discomfort. We neither of us like high temperatures. Anything over about 25C is generally too much for us and in the Loire Valley last week it got over 35C.

As I live alone, I find Christmas a pretty dreary time, so would like to get away from the UK for a few days. The trouble is, it's not much fun being in a foriegn city if the shops and restaurants are closed, and there's no public transport.

I'm planning on a driving tour of France in September, visiting the Loire Valley and then out to Alsace. I'm trying to decide whether I need to nail down an itinerary and book all the hotels in advance or whether to leave the whole thing more open and find hotels each night.

Has anyone driven from the Le Luc exit on A8 to St.Tropez? It looks like a good way to avoid St. Maxime traffic. My concern is a tough drive through the Massif Des Maures--after a long plane ride. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks
