Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat
A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he
was caught having sex with the animal.
The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and
De rien30 Jul 2006 09:33 GMT23
A few weeks ago we had discussion here of the use in French of "de
rien" as a response to "merci". A view was expressed that it was too
informal a construction to be used in polite exchanges in French (a
reminder for those with no French or whose French is very rusty: it

German wedding etiquette and protocol30 Jul 2006 06:34 GMT32
I have been invited to a wedding near Stuttgart in October and I am
wondering if anyone here could offer any input on German (or more
specifically Swabian) wedding protocol, how to avoid faux pas and what
I can expect. For example, what is a typical wedding gift, what

Bologna -- Urbino -- Venice Itinerary30 Jul 2006 03:17 GMT83
My husband and I are passing a pleasant Sunday afternoon playing around
with possible itineraries for our next trip to Italy. We have to travel

Somewhat OT: American States30 Jul 2006 01:27 GMT46
I recently made a post poking fun at Brits for visiting Florida in
such huge numbers, yet bitching about the hot, humid weather this
summer in the UK. Ha ha. I'm a funny guy.
But one subject in this regard has repeatedly entered my mind for many
Three days in Rome June 200629 Jul 2006 20:10 GMT25
We recently spent three days in Rome, partly for personal business,

up with a group from our local adult school who had come to Rome to
see an art show and we returned on their rented bus.

Hotel in London29 Jul 2006 15:33 GMT1
Hi, i'm looking for a nice and affordable hotel/B&B in London. The
price I can afford is 100 euro per night for a room. It's OK if it's
not situated in the city center but then it has to be reached easily
with public transport. A good bed is a must. Last but not least..... i

London, Wifi, or CyberCafe?29 Jul 2006 14:11 GMT30
Prices seem hard to pin down, but it looks like the hotel we plan to
stay in, Kings Cross Holiday Inn Express, which shouts about its wifi
in all the ads charges £9/hr for it. ;(
Its making me question my whole plan of taking a laptop with us on our
Recommendation: Gosport29 Jul 2006 12:53 GMT8
Might I recommend, to travellers to the south of England, the Royal
Navy submarine museum at Gosport (Junction 11 of the M27, near
Portsmouth).
This is a relatively little-known attraction, so no problems with
