I have an 11 hour stopover in Hong Kong from Heathrow in January, Just
wondering how easy is it to just leave the airport (apart from putting one
foot in front of the other and walk out the door) and see the sights using
public transport. Does anyone have any favourite 'must ...

Cars are going to disappear from European cities and European
countries. It's going to happen in NYC and California, too. San
Francisco's done it.
La Scalla Opera23 Sep 2006 23:15 GMT12
Has anyone been able to get tickets to a performance at La Scalla (in
Milan) prior to travelling to Italy?  If so, what's involved, what did
they cost, and are they normally sold out far in advance?
Thanks,
Day trip from Rome to Sorrento / Amalfi Coast / Capri23 Sep 2006 22:35 GMT27
We are going to be in Rome in late September, 4 adults and 2 children.
We want to take a day trip (no overnight) to Sorrento and Capri and see
the Amalfi Coast.  If we take the train, I know we don't get any
coastal viewing, but if we rent a car isn't it a long drive in each

Turkey package holiday23 Sep 2006 21:49 GMT53
I have decided on the easy and cheap option of a package holiday at the
beginning of October (see thread "Advice on a european package or

A friend of mine has an apartment in Tenerife and I'm considering going over
there in January. I would go there around January 15th for one week.
What is the weather like there that time of year? Warm enough for the beach?
Much chance of rain?

I have to go over to Germany sometime before the end of the year.  I
would like to take in some of the christmas markets while I am there.
I understand that they run from about mid November all the way up to
Christmas eve.
