Hi, has anyone been to the Avalon Resort in Panama or familiar with
it? Can't find any comments about it. Also anyone recently stayed at
the Gamboa Resort in Panama?

I am looking for a companion to do some kiking in Southern Chile during
the Jan-Feb timeframe. I have done Torres del Paine so I am interest in
something different. I should point out that I am 57, reasonably fit,
and Chilean national residing  in Canada.

Three of us will be visiting Rio De Janeiro from 3-8 October and would
appreciate suggestions on where to stay. We would prefer a
moderate/inexpensive, clean and comfortable lodging in/near Ipanema. Can
anyone offer suggestions based on experience?

I was considering a two week trip to Buenas Aires and Uruguay in January,
but what I have read so far strongly discourages going at that time because
so many places are closed and prices are higher. I'd appreciate some
comments.

Please advise if anyone was in cuzco and machu picchu and if they had
any problems with the altitude. If you did what did you do to help you
cope.

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive but clean and safe hotel within a
block or so of Ipanema. Information on good restaurants would also be

Hi,...I will be visiting Cuba for the first time in November. I will
be travelling solo, and I have booked for the first 3 nights in the
Hotel Inglaterra in old Havana. My first proority is to be safe at all
times, but apart from that, my interests are music, dancing, learning

I'm planning a 3-month trip to Chili and would like to work 3 weeks in
a voluntary project. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know it's a
short time but that's all the time I want to work.
