Recently I bought a talavera dinner set in Mexico. The person we bought it from stated that it was not dishwasher safe. I never thought of asking if it was lead free. Is there any sure way of testing the pieces to see if they are lead free?

I'm looking at the possibility at driving a car into Mexico and as far south as I can. I understand that there is no road on the Pan-American Highway connecting Panama and Columbia. I have read most of the articles related to this subject and still have a few questions.

has anyone hiked the Inca trail dec or jan? I am 57 years old and love to hike--moderate ones, that is some climbing and some descending too on both rocky and pebbly trails. do you think this 4 day hike would be too much for someone my age?
