Hi everyone!  This Jan/Feb, I'm planning on heading South to take some
Spanish classes and travel around a bit.  I would like to spend about
5 weeks altogether.  I narrowed my choices down to the two above.
I hear raving comments about learning Spanish in Guatemala but is

after arriving in santiago we will be in a hurry to catch the ferry in
puerto montt.
how long does it take to drive from santiago to puerto montt on a sunday ?
what's the routa 5 like ? traffic-lights ? speed-checks ? intersections ?

I had posted several questions about driving to Mexico, crossing the
border, insurance, etc.
I was enquiring about the Colombia Solidarity Bridge and how the road
connected to the cuota M85 on the Mexican side.  No one could respond.

Recently I bought a talavera dinner set in Mexico. The person we
bought it from stated that it was not dishwasher safe. I never thought
of asking if it was lead free. Is there any sure way of testing the
pieces to see if they are lead free?

Just wondering what the conditions would be like in April.  What the
visibilty is like and how long the weather patterns last i.e raining x
days vs. weeks.  I am planning on hiking up Machu Pichu .

we would like to follow the Carretera Austral as far as possible
before entering Argentina.I first hoped that we could go up to
Villa O'Higgins and cross the border there, this seems not yet

Or should I just flip a coin to choose?

I'm looking at the possibility at driving a car into Mexico and as far
south as I can. I understand that there is no road on the Pan-American
Highway connecting Panama and Columbia. I have read most of the
articles related to this subject and still have a few questions.

Im planing a trip to South America next year and wonder what it cost to
fly from Lima in Peru to Caracas in Venezuela. Does anyone know?
The only prices i find on the net are above 300$. Isn't that expensive?

has anyone hiked the Inca trail dec or jan?
I am 57 years old and love to hike--moderate ones, that is some climbing and
some descending too on both rocky and pebbly trails.  do you think this 4 day
hike would be too much for someone my age?
