Mexico City: Taxi $50 airport to Zona Rosa?08 Dec 2003 23:09 GMT10
Our hotel in Zona Rosa quoted $50 for one way airport pickup service.
This seems steep compare to what I've read from the guide books.  We
are a family of 4 so perhaps the price is for a bigger car? or is this
price too un-reasonable?  I'm aware of the taxi robberies so perhaps

Guatemala and Honduras07 Dec 2003 13:20 GMT5
I am taking a major trip next summer to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and
Honduras.  Mexico and Belize are not problems, but I was a bit curious
for advice about spending extensive periods in the remaining two
countries.  I have been to Guatemala to see Tikal, but this time I was
TRAVEL THE AMAZON06 Dec 2003 12:24 GMT1
ON THE AMAZON RIVER, Brazil— It was a trip I have always wanted to
take, and not even the pouring rain, the days of endless monotony and
flying beetles the size of my thumb made the trip down the river
Amazon anything other than a fantastic voyage.

I have recently had input from a fellow who visited La Ceiba a few
years ago. He states that there was alot of "tension" between
gringos and the natives there and alot of crime against gringos
who apparently have no rights there. He cites shootings and the
Juan Valdez is coming to town (finally)!05 Dec 2003 04:16 GMT6
Hi,
In today's online NY Times there is a story about the Juan Valdez
cafes opening in the U.S. (more than 18 months after they were first
announced). I have added the story to my website in case you don't

Flores to San Jose by air04 Dec 2003 00:00 GMT1
Anyone flown this route?
All the travel agents I spoke with quote me 350 dollars one way...
Is this the normal rate for this flight ?
It seems a little pricey for a short distance.
Guatemala...Panama03 Dec 2003 17:06 GMT3
I am planning a trip to Central America in december for 35 days landing in
Guatemala, ending in Panama. I was thinking of taking a one week spanish
class, hopefully living with a local family, and maybe taking diving lessons
in Honduras. Apart from this, there is a lot I want to see ...

rain forest travel02 Dec 2003 10:41 GMT1
I would be intersted in travelling to the "Manu" region (national park)
tropical forest or to the tropical forest in the Amazonas basin, crossing
over by plane from Switzerland, Europe. Are there any hotels or organized
tours (Perus. Brazil)?
