Costa Rica is generally very safe.  Petty crimes, i.e. small theft are
common.  Plenty of inexpensive places to stay in and out of San Jose.  We
dont usually drive around San Jose because it is easier to take taxis.  We
do rent a car and explore the country and have several times.  ...

I was thinking about taking the night bus from Cuzco to Puno.  Do you think I will miss much scenery by doing this? We are trying to save some time, but I do not want to miss out on good views.
