Panama / Central Am Answer23 Sep 2004 09:23 GMT1
Been to Costa Rica 4 times;  going back again for Thanksgiving week.  DO NOT
go to the east coast. Go to the West Coast.  Buy Frommer's Costa Rica 2004.
Do what the book tells you to do!  Great volcanoes, rain forest, good food,
clean water, pretty beaches, monkeys.
RIO22 Sep 2004 20:25 GMT3
I am going to be making a business trip to Rio sometime in the next
6-8 months and am semi-flexible on times.  Can someone tell me the
best time of year to visit Rio?  I would wish for no excessive temps
and that it does not rain all the time! :) LOL

erroneous or unclear, I decided to write this to help others, and just
Panama / Central Am?22 Sep 2004 11:38 GMT4
I have a couple of basic but broad questions for you!  My girlfriend and I
are saving for a trip to Central America next summer.  Admittedly, I haven't
done much research yet, but thought it would be useful to ask any of you who

Pictures from Brazil: Sao Luis, Lencois Maranhenses20 Sep 2004 14:14 GMT1
During our recent stay in Brazil  we made lots of digital photographs. I
myself used the Leica M7, with mostly the 24/2.8 and 90/2 (APO/Asph).
I tried to carefully match the colors on the screen to the originals, and
Vuescan (www.hamrick.com) was a great help. Scanner: Nikon IV ED.
side trips near Merida20 Sep 2004 03:03 GMT13
What can I do with a couple of days in the Merida area [I will be there
on business and want to add a couple of days to the trip] -- I want to
visit Mayan sites -- where should I go?  are there local tours worth
doing?  should I stay at the Merida hotel or move to another ...
Travel with one car from Mexico to Argentina15 Sep 2004 12:22 GMT4
Does anyone have experience with driving a car from Mexico to Argentina (or
the other way round, or partly)? I'm planning to buy a car somewhere in
Mexico or in the USA near the border with Mexico and drive through Central-
and South-America. Is it possible in the first place? ...

If you're planning a trip, make it sooner rather than later, unless you
don't mind a Walmart in your pictures from atop the Piramide del sol...

One of the absolutely best is Camaron Dorado in Brasilito, right on the

Travel Atacama desert12 Sep 2004 00:25 GMT1
Could you advise:
1.  Do we need a 4x4 vehicle for self drive tour?
2.  Is there a road from Colchane to Putre along the altiplano (national
parks, etc) rather than driving back to Iquique  to Arica and then to Putre?
