Blue Ridge Pkwy sections closed (flood damage)13 Oct 2004 02:53 GMT10
For those interested, the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC has three sections
closed due to road washouts and other flood damage.
Closed sections are:
1. From MM 317 to MM 325, near Linville Falls (Avery Co.)
split speed limits13 Oct 2004 00:04 GMT1
Yesterday I traversed Ohio (SW to NE) for the first time, and was
reminded how disruptive split speed limits are. As in my home state of
California, every time a truck traveling one mph faster than another
would pass, all traffic piles up behind them, then accordions for
Canyonlands South12 Oct 2004 23:44 GMT12
Today we moved south and toured Canyonlands Needles area. The best part was the
drive in. The view is incredible, if repititious. After seeing about so much of
the same red rock, the same huge boulders laying at the base of the rock walls,
the same spires (needles) of rock, and the ...
Resale - No up-front fee?12 Oct 2004 22:53 GMT1
We (NAM) have many complaints about companies that promise to (re)sell
campground and timeshare memberships in exchange for a fee to be paid
up-front. They usually want anywhere fro $250 - 4,000.
The complaints we get are that those companies never sell the membership -
Hunter.......did you beat this one?12 Oct 2004 22:21 GMT17
A new record for us. We moved 14 miles this morning. We sit atop a mountain
right off 191, north of Blanding, UT.  Devil's Canyon National Forrest
Campground. Just for kicks I checked to see if we could get any TV channels off
the batwing. I figured we wouldn't, since we aren't even ...
Direct TV vs Dish12 Oct 2004 21:10 GMT63
I'm being solicited by Verizon (who has just partnered with DirectTV) to
switch to DirectTV from my current cable provider.  I've actually been
thinking about making this move for a while and have always intended to get
an additional dish for my MH to have TV programming while ...

That would be my neighbour getting hooked up to go hunting.  I had a
little chat with him last night about the legal and safety aspects of
what he is doing but apparently to no avail.  He's still hooked up

Hi all,
We're "winterizng" which for us means getting the MH ready to go on our winter
adventures.  So, in standard terminology, I guess we're summerizing or
Bringing in the French12 Oct 2004 16:36 GMT16
I have long believed that Kerry has all the chance of a snowball dog
in Hell chasing an asbestos cat to bring the French in on our war in
Iraq.  Recent events have made me rethink this, a bit.
The Oil for Food debacle and the Dolfer (sp??) Report make it clear
Soooo ... who should you vote for?12 Oct 2004 16:26 GMT79
Here's an interesting and helpful quiz to help you compare your personal
views with those of the candidates and then you'll be able to compare them
side by side.  Take the test, and pass it on. It's like a Cliff Notes
version of presidential candidate comparison.

Vortex generators for motorhomes12 Oct 2004 05:06 GMT3
There was an article in a magazine some time ago about adding vortex
generator fins to the back of an RV to help with turbulance from
trucks etc. Has anyone also seen that article and/or know where to
find more information on them?
