DIFFICULTY CROSSING NORTHERN BORDER?31 Jan 2005 22:39 GMT20
We are planning a trip in an RV that may include going back and forth over the
US-Canadian border a time or two. We are all US citizens.
Has anyone been through that recently? If so, was there much of a hastle doing
that regarding time spent going through Immigration and Customs on ...
just brought the new TT home.31 Jan 2005 22:14 GMT31
hi everyone,  just got the new TT home.  Some observations.  I think I
want more truck lol.  Flat and level was ok, but even the little hills
around Fort Worth and Lewisville made me wish for more power.  I
surprised at the horrible gas mileage, 7.5 mpg,  but maybe the stiff
Trying to figure how to change newsgroup reader :(31 Jan 2005 21:36 GMT20
I downloaded Mozilla and it asks the name of my server. Since I use AOL and
never had to know this stuff I don't have a clue how to answer the question. To
further complicate the issue, I am only getting a few posts a day thru AOL so
if someone does take pity on me and decides to ...
banking for full-timers31 Jan 2005 21:07 GMT30
I opened a bank account the other day using a mailbox address.  Now
the bank wants a "house" address.  What do you full-timers do/say when
you encounter this type of thing?

experience with popup truck camper31 Jan 2005 21:07 GMT26
I'm looking for some experienced advice concerning putting a small
camper on a '97 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed 4x4 with the Z71 'off-road'
package.
I called GMC, gave them my VIN, and they said the dry weight is 4600
I am planning a trip to Alaska 31 Jan 2005 18:47 GMT8
I am planning a trip to Alaska next summer and considering going on a
GoodSam tour. I am looking for any input good or bad on the idea. Also would
like to have any of your thoughts on other tour operators or "do it
yourself"
Firm RV mattress - where to buy?31 Jan 2005 17:44 GMT5
I did a little web searching, and found a couple of RV places that sell
mattresses, but they happily proclaim that their mattresses roll up for
shipment.  I doubt that they are what I would call firm.
We have been looking at 5th wheels, and the Alpenlite Aspen we are
Opinions on Alpenlite Aspen 5th wheel?31 Jan 2005 14:35 GMT4
We are leaning to an Alpenlite Aspen 27RL 5th wheel.  It feels spacious,
with one large slide, has dinette, couch, and semi-easy chairs.  On our
first view, it seemed to be everything that we wanted, especially since
I want a 4 season unit with dry weight of 7000 pounds or so to ...
Just say NO to Gambling with Social Security!!!31 Jan 2005 04:09 GMT120
Please Say NO to Gambling with Social Security!!!
It is one thing we should all be able to count on.
Social Security is far from bankrupt. Here are some facts from a
telephone press conference held Tuesday by Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich.)
Regarding AOL dropping the newsgroups!31 Jan 2005 04:02 GMT19
I wonder is AOL dropping their prices after dropping the newsgroups?
Less product should mean a drop in price
or at least I thought so and that was the reason I dropped my cable
company.  What amazes me is people who will continue
Moseying across Texas31 Jan 2005 02:36 GMT4
Soon will be hauling the wife, the dog and the trailer to Big Bend NP and
then across Texas -- at a leisurely pace -- to visit family in Mississippi
and then volunteer in Florida for a couple of months. I'd like to have some
pointers on public campgrounds in the Hill Country and ...
Data Point:  Sold the house30 Jan 2005 21:53 GMT6
We closed the house sale (finally) on Jan 28 and paid off the truck loan
the same day.  We're paying off the RV loan tomorrow.  When the dust
settles, we will have gone from $272,000 dollars worth of debt to $8,000
worth of debt in 4 days.   Helluva trip.
Southern CA S-2 through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park30 Jan 2005 19:25 GMT32
Have any of you driven this road in a MH? Is it a reasonably safe way to
travel from I-8 up to Aguanga?

well dang it, some of you guys were right30 Jan 2005 19:20 GMT20
I posted earlier about bringing home our new 25J prowler bumper pull
trailer. It shows empty weight of 4400 lbs and I'm guessing it really
is closer to 4800 with options.  I have a 1500 4x4 Dodge QC with the
4.7 and 3.92.  I sure did not like the way the truck struggled up the

The Newbie Chronicles - The Raising Of The Dead
We didn't get any books with our '86 Lindy, so we're just kinda stumbling our
way thru all the bells and whistles, just trying to get things working.  Finally
figured out that the off switch on the thermostat wasn't making a good ...
