We are planning a trip in an RV that may include going back and forth over the

I'm looking for some experienced advice concerning putting a small
camper on a '97 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed 4x4 with the Z71 'off-road'
package.
I called GMC, gave them my VIN, and they said the dry weight is 4600

We closed the house sale (finally) on Jan 28 and paid off the truck loan
the same day.  We're paying off the RV loan tomorrow.  When the dust
settles, we will have gone from $272,000 dollars worth of debt to $8,000
worth of debt in 4 days.   Helluva trip.

Have any of you driven this road in a MH? Is it a reasonably safe way to
travel from I-8 up to Aguanga?
