Spring trip01 Oct 2005 00:23 GMT4
In the spring of 2006 (approximately 5-1) we will be making a "genealogical"
trip. Traveling from Texas, our first "extended" stop will be in Glenville,
NY, from where we will visit Flatbush (Brooklyn).  That's where an ancestor
of mine first settled in the USA in the early 1700s ...
Gas refrigerators30 Sep 2005 22:50 GMT2
Gas refrigerators are entirely different from their electric cousins.
Where electric refrigerators use safe, non-flammable freon for the
refrigerant, gas refrigerators use compressed hydrogen gas and an
ammonia-water solution. Electric refrigerators use compressors, electric
Choosing the right RV30 Sep 2005 21:13 GMT19
With over 25 years living and traveling in our RVs, both my wife and I
have been asked many questions.... the most perplexing is "how to you go
about buying an RV?" Most adults understand the process of buying a car
or truck. They simply look at several, figure out how they are ...
Gas Gauge Lies30 Sep 2005 21:03 GMT8
The gas gauge on my MH does not work most of the time,
usually reading full.  Unfortunatelty that is not the truth.  It
sometimes seemed to work around 1/4 to 1/2 tank available,
but the rest of the time it mostly showed full.  Since the MPG
Ping for Alan, the Onan expert!30 Sep 2005 19:37 GMT12
Did we discuss this problem recently?  Suddenly the Onan won't start.
You can hear the starter motor running but it doesn't engage.
The owner's manuals are totally useless for trouble-shooting this problem.

Your Camper's Tires30 Sep 2005 06:27 GMT5
Your Camper's Tires, Ralph P. Yates
Camper Breakdown! A dreaded event, but one that happens all too often.
What causes a breakdown? More often than not, it’s a tire failure. This
should come as no surprise, as a trailer tire takes a beating, spinning
Don Lampson and Soloman's Porch on Sunday30 Sep 2005 04:25 GMT2
Don came down to Pismo Coast Village RV Resort
today from Santa Margarita. We sat around in the
warm and spectaular weather here and solved all
the world's problems. Don has some great stories
OT_ News Reporting By FOX NEWS30 Sep 2005 03:38 GMT78
There is a lot of monday morning quarterbacking going on by the news
reporters, specifically in the evacuation jam on the interstates. I
think that a single mile away from the coast is an improvement in
the odds of survival. To state that they should have evacuated based
Best space heater for winter?30 Sep 2005 02:50 GMT89
I want to keep our 24 foot class "C" ready to go during the winter.
Plan on getting a space heater to use and would like to know what type
is best...catalytic seems best but have no experience with them.  Don't
like the idea of an exposed electric element in and unattended space and
Lawton plaque29 Sep 2005 18:29 GMT2
I was informed today that the plaque for the fountain in memory of Lois
Lawton looks, "cheesy" for an outdoor plaque.
The Lawton's want Lois's birth and death dates on a plaque.  I am going to
check on a frame for the one we have and the possible addition of dates by
Honda EX100029 Sep 2005 18:11 GMT3

Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Install wood laminate and place of carpet?29 Sep 2005 17:16 GMT35
Is anyone had any experience in putting down a wood laminate floor in
a fifth wheel (or motorhome for that matter)? I have three slides,
would I have to leave the carpet on them?
We are replacing the carpet in our home and could possibly do the
Poor weather forcasts and reporting cost lives and billions (Rita)29 Sep 2005 15:53 GMT25
Rita made me realize how important good weather forcasts are to
preventing loss of life and disrupting the economy.
When Rita was in the gulf, the projection was for Matagorda Bay Texas.
To give the Weather Channel Hurricane Expert credit, he said that it
Scooter is the Plan29 Sep 2005 15:41 GMT68
Where can a person store or transport a mid size motorized scooter
like a Vespa. I have little room except the front of the Ram, or the
back bumper of the 5er. where the spare tire is mounted.
What would be the course of action?
Selling a RV in Alaska.29 Sep 2005 12:22 GMT2
I am planning on making a trip to Alaska next spring/summer with a
pickup and travel trailer. I haven't bought either of the units yet but
we have a fairly healthy market for good used stuff in Eastern
Nebraska. I plan on starting the trip in May and doing a lot of fishing
