genset purchase - good buy???07 Apr 2006 00:37 GMT16
Long story short:  my dad borrowed my (old) RV the other night for its
4kw genset to run his sump pump during a recent storm power-outage.
Today, I received a sales circular from "Big Lots" in my local
newspaper.  It shows a 3Kw portable generator (4-stroke, 6.5 HP, 110V)

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here
in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be
treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it ...

Anyone have any practical advice as to what it would take to receive
satellite television and satellite radio in the Yucatan and in Baja?
Are there any preferences for vendors, systems, and so forth?
TIA.
Misleading rental price rant06 Apr 2006 18:37 GMT24
--OK so I want to rent an RV, I go to all the usual sources in my
area and look at all the brochures. The best deal is from an outfit that has
summer rates of $169.- per night for a 28 footer; not bad. So I tell them I
want it for such and such dates and they say that the weekend I ...
RVing in south Texas-Gulf Coast06 Apr 2006 18:19 GMT11
Would anyone like to share their experiences in the Texas Gulf coast?  RV
park recommendations?  Must see places?  What is the climate like in the
winter.  Is this a place where one would want to spend the summer?  I'm
particularly interested in the Brownsville/ South Padre ...

LED light results -- short06 Apr 2006 04:12 GMT11
I know this will cause some disagreement.
I have replaced more than half the lighting in my trailer with LED's. A
little more than a year ago, I read  reports on this group, of failures of
the replacement LED clusters -- 24 LED's per bulb in my case.  I have used

1999 Dolphin, Model 5330, 33.5 ft, w/Ford Triton V-10 engine. Trying to get
a little better performance. The automatic transmission seems to shift up
and down a lot. What would be the best way to help this? Chip?

Not too OT: When a Vehicle Serves as Home, Troubles Abide05 Apr 2006 23:25 GMT10
Lots of people living in their vehicles, in this Republican
economy.  Distinctions between being homeless and RVing in cities
may seem subtle to the neighbors:

HGTV RV 200605 Apr 2006 17:03 GMT4
I just sent the following to HGTV regarding the show RV 2006.
Rarely would I do such a thing but it was so awful I felt I had to
write.
Is it just me, or was anyone else who saw it as irritated as I was?
Best vacuum for RVing05 Apr 2006 16:27 GMT6
We recently bought a Eureka Optima upright vacuum at Costco.  It's also
available at QVC, Bed, Bath & Beyond and other places.  We paid $59 at
Costco, so I guess QVC is a bargain, except you have to pay shipping.
Powerful little vac that takes up little room, as long as you can ...
Cost of Full Timing;MSN Article05 Apr 2006 09:46 GMT17
Hi. It's been a dream of mine to full-time and see the continent
before I get too old.
Ever since I sold my TT (fully restored 1948 Westcraft 27') I have
missed the road life.
