My Alpenlite/dealer experience17 Nov 2006 19:54 GMT26
Thanks to all those who responded to my Alpenlite post.  There was
plenty of good information for me.
We made the trip to the local dealer to inspect the few they have in
stock.  Not easy to find a dealer here on the west coast of Florida

Ok, before I get blasted, I joined RV.org.  I haven't received their
material yet, but I'm sure it's on the way.  I can't say as I was
comfortable with what I perceived to be their take it or leave it
attitude, but I joined due to the persistent opinion around here that

'67 Travois refit complete (long, pics)17 Nov 2006 11:45 GMT23
As a few of you might remember, I posted some questions about heaters,
stoves, and suchlike related to a refit project, some time back.
We've been up here (about 2 miles altitude in the Colorado mountains)
for several years.  I think this will be our 4th winter.  We've been
It's Been Interesting....17 Nov 2006 11:12 GMT75
It's been interesting.
But now it's time for an extended vacation.  Really extended.
From RORT, of course, but also from the Web in general.  Twenty
minutes once a week ought to be enough for necessary banking, and
Retrofit modules?17 Nov 2006 07:51 GMT3
--Have decided, after recent abominable treatment by rental
companies to never rent again. Can't afford new and am leary of used; am
thinking of snagging a Wells Cargo or something similar and outfitting it
with a toilet, sink, stove, etc. Does anyone know of drop-in modules that
Alt.binaries.ebook and ebook.flood16 Nov 2006 16:02 GMT22
A long time back there was a discussion among us SciFi readers
and the availability of ebooks.  There is a current thread from
the weekend on alt.binaries.ebook.flood that contains ALL the
nominees and winners of the Hugo (1946-20060 and Nebula (1965-2006).

Yahoo mail problem?15 Nov 2006 03:29 GMT60
(This is NOT OT, since it has to do with the e-mail address I use here.)
Are any of you Yahoo e-mail folks having trouble with it?
Suddenly -- and I mean as of this morning -- I can no longer access
Yahoo e-mail. I've tried all three of my browsers (all of which worked
What's with the spate of spam here lately?15 Nov 2006 01:45 GMT328
For a long time RORT has been almost 100% free of spam. Now we're
getting one or two per day. What happened?
Haunting Youtube Video14 Nov 2006 21:55 GMT3
I came across this thing, and couldn't look away.  It's
mesmerizing.  Those eyes.  Then I watched it again.
A picture every day for 6 years.  I hope he keeps it up for 60.
Though of course I'll never see the end.

I have a serious bone to pick with you, Giddings...
I naively went out and bought some "Gnu-Finish" as you recommended. The
ubiquitous and loquacious Bob Giddings uses it, I said to myself, it
must be the best. Couldn't find it at the usual hardware stores, or
