A filksong is a science fictional folksong parody. Some dumbbunny
'communications' major once typoed "folksong" into "filksong", and the
malapropism done stuck.  So, here's a filksong, inspired by Air Canada and
our trip to the WorldCon in Toronto.

can anyone tell me what the current situation is with smoking in Toronto? I
remember a law was passed(or tried to pass) a few years ago, but don't
recall what it covered. e.g. bars, restaurants etc.

When will be the best time for viewing this year's autumn leaves in
Algonquin Prov.Park/Ontario and the Laurentians/Quebec?

We will be spending 3 nights on Oahu and aren't real keen to stay in the
traditional tourist spots. We are after any recommendations for somewhere
quiet, reasonably cheap ($50-100/night), close to the beach, and somewhere
to have a nice cold beer or three.

Isabel is looking like it will hit the US coast near Cape Hatteras late
Wednesday and Thursday - the present projected path has it going across the

Is the area around 90th street and Broadway interesting ? I will be in
NYC in december and I'm considering staying at the Quality Inn on
Broadway. I d'like to have some opinions about this area, including
restaurants and bars.

We're going to New York City at christmas.  We have 3 spare days and would
like to go to DC to see the sights.  We've been onto the web and a car seems
the cheapest option, but the weathe in NY, Md and DC at Christmas is a bit
of a worry.  If it snows, will the Interstates be clear? ...

I'm going to NYC this winter and look for an hotel. Has anyone
experienced the thirty thirty hotel in NYC ? Location is 30 East, 30th
street. What does the area looke like ?

I am looking for two night stay (Sept. 19th to sept. 21) in NYC or in the
vicinity of NYC with parking space. Any suggestions? Something clean and not
to complicated to get to by car.
