Is there any feasible way of making a day trip from Washington DC to Williamsburg without a car? Amtrak is possible but the last train back is at 15:07 which doesn't give a lot of time there. Greyhound takes far too long.

Wondering if anyone has any ideas here on this.. Mapquest shows a route going way out to Syracuse and then up I-81, which seems like a lot of extra miles. I was thinking going through Montreal might be better, though that means driving on non-freeways for much of the time.

Had a great time in Chicago, 8 days. Hadn't been there in 12 years and I forgot how incredibly clean it is. Most of the downtown area is nearly spotless, incredible! What a first rate, world class city, easily #1 in U.S.A.
