Wagon?07 Jan 2004 08:52 GMT10
A few times on car hire sites even for UK destinations I've seen the term
"Wagon" to describe a type of car. I know cars in the UK quite well but
never seen one termed as a wagon. In fact wagon is usually used as the same
as lorry, truck, or other heavy goods vehicle.
Driving in Alaska in March07 Jan 2004 08:25 GMT3
I'm flying into Anchorage in early March and will spend 10 days photographing,
first bald eagles on the Kenai near Homer, then if the weather is clear up
north near Fairbanks for northern lights.
I'll rent a vehicle ... do I need 4 WD or will I be OK (most years) with your
LA to Vegas07 Jan 2004 02:58 GMT5
Can anyone tell me if there are road works (widening?) going on the
I15?
I am planning this drive mid April and wondered if my 4 hour drive
time has gone belly up!
Travel around USA North East07 Jan 2004 02:00 GMT25
We are a family of 4 (19 and 12 year boys) from Norway planning to travel
for two weeks around the North East of USA in July. We will fly to NY and
spend a few days there, than rent a car and drive around. Departure may be
from NY or an other city. We may buy a round trip air ticket ...
Chicago to Michigan Upper Penisnula06 Jan 2004 18:22 GMT1
I'm going to take this drive, haven't decided whether to go via Wausau
or via Green Bay and Iron Mountain. Looks like a 9 - 10 hour drive
either way, and I'll be getting a late (i.e. ~11 AM) start, so I'll
probably stop for the night. From the Road Atlas, it looks like that
weekend trip to MSP?06 Jan 2004 17:41 GMT2
I'm thinking of taking the wife from Milwaukee to MSP on Amtrak for the
weekend in February. I was planning to take cabs to get around, and see a
show and maybe the science museum or shopping. While I'm planning to get a
travel guide, I was hoping someone here could answer a few ...

Thanks a lot
Green Tortoise Hostel - SF - Age group?06 Jan 2004 10:59 GMT1
I will be traveling to San Francisco in Mid-March, and plan on staying
at the Green Tortoise hostel.  Anyone know what kind of age range this
hostel has?  I am 19, and don't want to be stuck with a bunch of
adults who dont know how to have a good time.  I'm more than ready to
saftey in New Orleans?06 Jan 2004 10:38 GMT7
Just heard that Ray Davies of the Kinks was shot in the leg Sunday evening in
the French Quarter of New Orleans.  Apparently just a tourist mugging gone
bad.  He was treated and released from a local hospital.  Ray Davies was
awarded "Commander of the Order of the British Empire" ...
Florida night ride06 Jan 2004 09:33 GMT2
We'll be driving later this month from Sanford Fl to Sanibel Isl Fl at
night, according to Mapquest using the Greeneway, I-4, and I-75, about a 4

Any info out there?
Aurora in Alaska06 Jan 2004 01:06 GMT7
I am considering traveling to Alaska near the end of January to see
the Northern Lights.  I am considering Fairbanks and Anchorage; I know
the show is better in Fairbanks but I would guess there would be more
of other things to do in Anchorage.
Boston - anyone recommend a tour?05 Jan 2004 22:00 GMT4
I'll be in Boston for a couple of days at the end of February and would
like to see some of the main points of interest. I've done a Gray Line
tour of SF and it was very good. Is there anything similar in Boston?
I'm sure there must be more of interest than the outside of the Cheers
NYC Upper West Side review05 Jan 2004 21:02 GMT1
I spent 8 days in NYC city. Great fun all week long. Too many things
to see in such a short time. Thanks to some fellow boardies (Pan, Rita
and a few others), I've been able to find some very good restaurants
in the area where I stood (Quality inn on Broadway and 94th street).
