Columbia River Gorge waterfalls07 Sep 2004 06:05 GMT7
next weekend I'll have a two/three days trip from Seattle to the Coulmbia
River Gorge and back passing through Mt Rainier.
Since time is anyway limited, I'm trying to write down a list of "not to be
missed" spots/short hikes along the Gorge.
British Columbia travel experience07 Sep 2004 01:39 GMT6
My wife and I just returned from 10 days in British Columbia (end of
August).  We stayed at a variety of places ranging from hostels to
Holiday Inns.  Here's a summary of the trip.  Hope it helps others with
their travel plans:
Truck Scales on Canadian Highways07 Sep 2004 01:33 GMT9
I have always wondered about the truck scales on the sides of major
highways.  I would like to understand how they work.
Does a truck have to report to the scales once a trip or every time it
passes the scales?  Once they find out how heavy the truck is, do they have
NYC Romantic Restaurants07 Sep 2004 00:12 GMT10
I will be meeting my boyfriend in NYC this fall and I am looking for a
restaurant to have a romantic meal.  I have read about several
including Tavern on the Green, River Cafe in Brooklyn, Cirque 2000,
etc. They all seem to be very nice, however I've heard that some
Best guide book for NYC?06 Sep 2004 23:43 GMT9
Is there a consensus on which guide book to New York City is the best
one for a medium term visitor: 12 weeks but intensely busy weekdays, so
we are looking at 8-10 weekeneds. I suppose that is equivalent to a 2-3
week tourist.
NYC Museums - entrance fees or donations?06 Sep 2004 23:08 GMT21
I noticed that some of the Museums in NYC have "suggested donation prices"
for entrance to them.
Does this mean that you could actually go in for free?  not that I would,
but could someone explain how this works?  Do you have to pay or not?
NYC-Should I drive or not?  Also-How do I get to Coney Island?06 Sep 2004 23:02 GMT58
I am new to this group.  I am planning a day trip up to NYC from Atlantic
City next week sometime.  We will be staying in Atlantic City for 4 days and
I would like to take one day to visit NYC.
My particular point of interest for me and family (wife, Daughter14, Son12,
Re: Visit to NYC06 Sep 2004 22:48 GMT9
A reminder re a post I started:
We are both late 40's, prefer an apartment (or even B & B!) to hotels, like eating out at good local restuarants as opposed to posh places, like art/ theatre/architecture etc. but not drinking, like chatting and people watching, but not gossiping, ...
Stopover SFO/LAX - one night06 Sep 2004 19:53 GMT7
I may have to travel from London to Auckland on about 24th September.   I'll
probably be using a RTW ticket so I can break my journey if I choose to.
I've been to the Bay Area on many occasions, almost always staying in Foster
City (relations).   I like the whole of the Bay Area.   ...

seafood restaurant in Vancouver06 Sep 2004 17:36 GMT12
We will be there next week and I was told that in Canada we should find nice
seafood. I love lobster and crab and was wondering if anyone could recommend
a good restaurant in Vancouver. Not too expensive, but good.

Must see in L.A area?06 Sep 2004 16:50 GMT30
I've been searching the Internet for must-see things in L.A area but all the
websites I've visited give no specific information (is Hollywood the only
thing to visit in L.A????  I'm sure it's not!)
We'll be in L.A for 1 or 2 days and we'll drive to San Francisco along the
NYC info06 Sep 2004 15:06 GMT7
We are looking forward to go to NYC from Oct. 9 to 11. We'll stay 2 nights.
As the accomodation is cheaper in some neighbourhoods, we would like to know
if it is quite convenient to stay in places like Jersey City, Hoboken,
Yonkers and to travel to Manhattan by train, bus or subway.
Boston practical info06 Sep 2004 12:44 GMT1
My husband and I will be traveling to the USA, Boston during the
months of October and November.
We have been there before but not for more than one week, so we don't
really know all that much about Boston.
