I want to spend the afternoon bar hopping in San Fran cisco. What are some hotels or other establishments with top floor view, or whatever, drinking options? View, convenience, blue jeans and athletic shoes allowed. No cover charges. Will probably be finished drinking by 6pm.

I'm driving east to west cross- country and by Thanksgiving Day I may be in Oklahoma or northern Texas. All the museums and attractions (in the tourguides) seem to be closed on that day. What to do? Will I be able to buy gas? And dinner? (please don't say McDonald's)

I plan to drive from Las Vegas to San Diego, at the end of January, travelling on Rte 95, a portion of HIghway 40, and Rte 62 (via Essex, Amboy and Twentynine Palms. Any advise ? Any safety tips ?
